Customer Video Review Length:: 1:38 Mins

I have the Reynolds vac sealer that I bought over a year ago as well. That works just as well, however they no longer sell it in my area, to my knowledge anyawy,so when I saw this pump I was curious. First of all, you can't beat the price. The refill bags are reasonably priced as well. I purchased them at a Walmart in my area. The pump and the battery powered Reynolds sealer are comparable to each other in function. I have used the pump many times and have had one instance where there seemed to be some air leakage; to remedy the problem, I re-pumped and placed 2 strips of tape over the pump entry point- so far so good. The way I see it, even if it doesn't work 100% all the time, it still gets more air out than using an ordinary zip seal bag alone, and at such a cheap price, I feel it more than pays for itself.

In the video, I demo both the Reynolds and the Ziploc so you can see how they match up to eachother. Also, you'll notice that the Ziploc... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars You Get What You Pay For!! (The Bags Can't Keep A Seal), September 18, 2009

This product is a great idea, and a great price break in contrast to the overly expensive alternatives out there, however, the old addage holds true - you get what you pay for. As a home brewer, my plan was to use these to protect the hops I harvested while they are in the freezer waiting to be used for brewing. It was a cheap enough solution that if it didn't work, I wouldn't feel too bad.

They appeared to work great at first. Then after a few hours in the freezer, I noticed the bags had leaked through the little inflater hole. I tried putting some vinyl packing tape over the hole after sucking all of the air out, but the bags still managed to fill back up with air.

If you are looking for a cheap way to store hops - or anything else which requires a good seal - this isn't your solution.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick and Easy, December 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I found this product easy and quick to use. I don't use it for long
storage(weeks) rather just days, so I can't say how it works in that time frame.
It works very well so far. I use it for lettuce. But the best thing i use it
for is apples. I usually don't eat a whole apple at a time so the rest turns
brown. Instead of having to use lemon juice, I stick the remainder of the apple
in a vacuum bag, pump a few times and it ready for future consumption without
tuning brown. :). Here is something I plan to do. Make several individual portions
of salad at one time, Vacuum seal each portion and use during the week.

Hint: really press down on zip lock to insure a good seal before pumping.

Cons: Shipping cost. I wish this was prime Item for shipping as you can usually
find this item locally without incurring the shipping cost. This is why 4 stars.
